Default I feel your pain.

Water temp varies during the 24 hour period probably reaching a peak around 1500-1600, especially on an outgoing tide. Bay temp is almost always higher than the Gulf in the summertime. The opposite is generally true in the winter.

This time of year I usually fish 4 hours or so in the morning, as early as possible. In the evening I try to fish from around 2000 to 2400.

If I only have mid to late afternoon available, I try to fish deeper areas than I would with cooler water temps.

I fish about 300 miles SE of PC but what I said above should work up there too.
Talk to Ron Barwick at Half Hitch in PC. He usually his his finger on the fishing pulse around PC.

Fish it just like you do in the morning or evening. The fish are up on the flats all day no matter how hot it gets. They may not be feeding all day, but you can make them bite.

If water's moving, should be able to fish the afternoon. I go deeper, usually fish the rigs, etc off of a slip cork and using live bait. I do well on artificial in the morning and evening, but usually not during the heat of the day.
