Default "Q" for all you shark fisherman.

Just wondering.... Looking at the regulations, and for those that shark fish from SHORE.

1) Are you limitedto 1 shark?

2) Since Sharks are HMS.... A HMS permit is for the boat, not the fisherman. Are you bound by it?

Not that I'm going Shark fishing or going to keep one, but was just wondering if shore fisherman are exempt...still looking:banghead

one per person or two per vessel (whichever is less) so you can keep one

no, you only need a HMS in federal waters.....to keep sharks in federal waters you need a HMS, in state waters you do not

Thought so about the (1)/person.... So in reality you could catch Tuna within State waters and not possess a HMS. Not that you would likely see them in close but strange things happen:banghead

After research....:banghead
HMS Angling Permit
Recreational anglers that target any HMS fish must purchase a federal permit. The permit is issued to the fishing vessel, so it will cover all anglers onboard. Anglers can apply for a permit online at www.nmfspermits.com or by calling 1-888-872-8862. This permit is not required for anglers fishing for billfish, swordfish, and sharks in state waters.
