Default Irma could be the one

Early reports make Irma bad news. Still far out, but better make preparations now.

Early indications are it will head up the Atlantic, no? I mean, obviously anything could happen once it gets down around the Dominican.

Check out the Euro model...I think that is what everyone is referring to. Historically speaking, this model has been the most reliable, and it has the storm coming up either the east coast of FL or hooking into the Gulf and coming our way. Your are correct though....a long way out, but definitely something to keep our eyes on.

Early indications mean nothing, they have no idea where a storm is going 10 days out. I'll be using this long holiday weekend to do some cleaning up in the garage since my garage floods easily, rest of house is 5' higher than garage. I'll still enjoy my weekend, I'll just work in the garage in the mornings and have fun in the afternoons! Monday I'll take some real time off and take my boys fishing!

This nice weather lady sums up what is known so far. GFS model says more northerly track, Euro takes the Southern track, historically the Euro has been the more accurate model. Of course, these models will all change as time goes by, definitely a storm to watch.

If this thing does hook around Cuba and decide to come up the gulf it's going to be bad news. It's already up to a cat 2 and is still pretty far east of Cuba. Pray it goes north.

Have plan and supplies in June!!! Don't pay attention to anything till it gets into the gulf!!! Once in the gulf, start executing small prep just in case! And then you'll know more in the next day or two after that!!!!

Been doing this for years!!!

Don't get sucked into the hystaria this far out if you've done all of the above. Live in Paradise and enjoy it. No need to even guess this far out!

Haven't experienced much more than a little tropical storm since I've been down here in FL .... but the gubbmint sent me to do Katrina relief in Mississippi & I worked the two tornados here around Pensacola the other year with the red cross, so I've seen some stuff and it don't look like fun & games .....

..... also seeing what happened to my sister-in-law's place over in Houston ( http://photos.google.com/share/AF1Qi...9YQm1uWmZZek53 ) this is kind of a wakeup call for us that maybe we shouldn't count on good luck for too long.

Time I guess to go crank that gennie I haven't started in 6 months & make sure she's running good and get a couple more extension cords. Sort out the plywood boards the builder gave us for our windows. Pickup a few extra gas cans, some tarps, & stock a little more water in the back bedroom. We do have a place to go if we needed to bug out.

Don't know if I'd need 'em where I'm at ... but is there anyplace to get free sandbags around?
