Default Back to fishing?

I realize that everyone's getting ready to be in "batten down the hatches" mode. I'm curious... After a storm/mild hurricane blows through, when does the fishing resume? After a Cat1? After a Cat2?

Do you need to be inshore, offshore, or surf fishing?

Default When will they start to bite again?

I would like to know also. I read an article the other and the guy said after Katrina went through they were catching the reds/speckled trout so fast that you could fill up a 48 quart cooler within 2 hours. Of course he didn't say how long after Katrina went through...

So for any of you who have been through a hurricane or two around here PLEASE let us know your thoughts....

if every fishing boat gets wrecked then we will be dealing with the forest gump phenomenom since they won't be able to catch anything until their boats are repaired.

Default Ivan

After Ivan the near shore was the best I have ever seen in more than 50 years of fishing. Near shore was 3 to 5 miles on public spots. Had to stop fishing after two hours becasue we had limites of Snapper, Grouper, and Trigger.

I fishing inshore after IVAN, and I never had another day like it... It was redfish on every cast... I ran out of lures, there were studs everywhere... Alot of sharks also, had them under the boat from 6-9 ft long... also, I threw cast net once... and caught about 50 catfish, seriously... Their fins got stuck, and so I just scrapped the net...
