Default Yamaha XT225 - Opinions

Got a line on a '00 Yam XT225 enduro with only 3k miles. Asking price is $2K. Looked it over and she's clean but the carb is sketchy with a rough idle and sag on rev up. Didn't put any road time nor ask for a test ride.

Its almost 20 years old but for the coin, it could be turned into a good flogger by changing over rims and tires to grippy street buns, softer suspension and so forth.

Wistful thinking, but it is a 20 year old scoot.

btw, I just rolled 3K miles on my 2017 Honda PCX150 and love it-!

I’d definitely check Bike Bandit or other parts places to make sure you can still buy parts for it. A carburetor probably won’t be too hard to locate, but the dealer surely won’t have any parts for a bike that old.

Cheap thrills are great, but cheaper thrills are better! 2k sounds a little high if ain't 100%. Hit some forums, I bet theres a carb upgrade for them for more POWA!

Bro isn't budging on price and it didn't feel right, so moving on. Not sure if 225 would be enough to make a good wheelie machine that I'd want.
