I have been at for 24 years and I still love to see the customers face when I present them their finished product. And if a tuesday is perfect for fishing I can go.

These are some great posts concerning the small business members.... I too have had the opportunity to own a few small business's and sold the last 2 I had... I am currently doing my homework again in hopes of finding another idea that pays off for me...My reasons are always the same... I have a job with a very large company here in Pensacola. I work a job that I am dead ended, topped out, and have no opportunity for advancement in. I can be the sorriest one there or the best...it all pays the same...problem is after 24 years, I am getting very burt out... So, I look, listen, study and plan... I can't wait until I have the opportunity to tell this company, Thank you for the job you gave me when I really needed one...thank you for helping me provide for my family and then we will shake hands and I will ride off into he sun set to work for myself once again...

Job Security. If you work for a company, and that company goes out of business, you have 0 income. If you run a business, and one of your customers goes out of business, you still have income from all of the other customers.

Great stories Guys. Never had my own business but wanted to.

No need for it now , I will never work again. " my choice"

The reason for my post is to ask , does this forum have any Sticky thread of member owned businesses? I have asked twice for references and twice been happy with the results. I would bet more members would rather do business with members on this board.
if such a thing exist , direct me to it.
If it doesn't , the Mods need to create a section dedicated to Business owners and the members in need of a particular service.

I have many projects I would pay to be done , but I do not trust Craig's list

I've been starting businesses since I was a kid. I have owned many over the years and most did well. I guess you can say "starting and running businesses" is what I was designed to do.

I firmly believe that running your own business gives you the best chance to get ahead. I found that it was almost impossible for me to get ahead when working for others. I felt like a "wage-slave."

One of the keys to success is to make sure that the business becomes independent of you. Otherwise, you become a slave again. Ask yourself: "If you go on vacation for six months, will the business be running even better?" and "If you became disabled tomorrow, would the business continue to provide you with enough income to live on?"

When you can answer "yes" to both of these questions, you will be financially independent, and at last...truly free.

Those websites look great!

Interesting to hear why people have started their own businesses.
