Default Who Know's Sprinkler Systems ?

I haven't turned on my sprinkler system in over a month since we've been getting plenty of rain. I looked at the controller today and the screen was blank. I took the front off and replaced the fuse and it came on. So, I programmed it and manually turned on zone 1. Zone 6 came on. I manually turned on zone 2. Zone 6 came on. I let zone 6 run for 50 minutes and it never would shut off. I even put the controls to "off" and it wouldn't shut off. I unplugged it and it went off. So, what's the problem ?
I can go get a new controller for about $40 so it's not a big deal. Just wondering if there's an easy fix before I do that. Thanks for the help.
Oh, I even switched some wires around for the zones and still just zone 6 came on.

could be the Valve is stuck on zone 6.. Do you have a hose spiket on your pump? If so try turning that on before turning on the pump to a new zone... to take some pressure off.. Zone 6 might of been the last one it was on,so its stuck in that area..

The timer is the problem. A stuck valve is not going to turn on and off.

After re-reading your post, if you man turned the pump off and it stayed on with zone 6, then sounds to me like the controller is deff faulty.

It is rarely necessary to replace a valve and your problem does not indicate any valve problem unless the system is on a well, uses a pump start relay and does not have a tank.

Use your VOM & check the output voltage for each zone on the timer.

Also, use the X1 scale and ohm out the field wiring. Put one probe on the common & check the resistance for each zone. They will all read just about the same unless a wire is cut or a selonoid is bad.

All underground valves are rebuildable without cutting any pipe.

Another vote for Mead. Since finding him, I do not let anyone else touch my sprinkler system. He was just at my house about 2-3 weeks ago and once again, I am completely satisfied ... never been anything but completely satisfied with Mead.

He has an new number though, 619-7719, or email him at [email protected].

Its a stuck selonid or a bad valve. I just had to replace one selonid and a valve last week at someones house.
