Default What is "ecological restoration"???

I must not understand the "ecological restoration" that is going on at Blackwater State Forest, perhaps the closely planted pines that were once part of Champion's holdings are not the "natural state" of our local forests. It seems odd that last year, if you were caught riding an ATV here, you would be ticketed and fined, yet, now machinery decimates the "environment". Can anyone out there explain some of this?

Yeah, just guessing the state has sold the rights to clear cut.

I can understand "managing" the planted pines and trying to recoup the cost of this recent purchase of land through the Florida Forever program at a time when state budgets are extremely tight, but to call it "Ecological Restoration" is inappropriate at the least! I'm sure the Red Cockaded Woodpeckers would agree with me!
