Just took a part-time position as an adjunct instructor at local college. The course is an introduction to the paralegal profession. I am amazed at how many of the students cannot do simple math such as basic fractions, multiplication, and division. You should have heard the moans when I said "no calculators". Also on the low end is basic spelling. Someone suggested that they were taught to spell words like they sound, unfortunately no one taught them how to speak.

So, the question is...how did they get out of high school?

That's funny! My daughter came home from grade school one day and told me they learned about "Smoking" and that I should quit. I thought to myself it would be nice if maybe the teacher would show her how to read a ruler or tell time instead!

i am a product of public schools and private schools.... i think our teaching system sucks.... and it only creates parots that can recite crap out of a book that has been aproved for the teacher to use.... and it is determined by the amount of funding the publisher spent to get it put in the system.... the LOTTERY was supposed to be used for the schools I attended and has been largely sucked into the abiss of the political world and leaches that suck the life out of the world....
