Default Walking to the Superdome

Marnie and I are staying at the International House hotel for the Sugar Bowl. It is located one block off Canal St. and one block off St. Charles ave. Approximately 1/2 mile from the dome.

I was hoping someone could give me some advice. Should we walk to the dome, after a late lunch and trolling around the quarter. Or try to get a cab...Is it safe to walk? I've looked at maps...can't decide.
Thanks in advance for any help!!

Frank

I walked to the dome from Canal and it wasn't bad. This was the '03 Sugar Bowl, though. I'm not sure how much things have changed since Katrina. As far as distance goes it's not a bad walk.

Short walk to Poydras, but it's a long stretch up to the Dome. Longer than it looks, after walking the Quarter in the daytime. Relatively safe stroll as long as you stay alert and watch what's going on around ya, but I'm thinking I'd save the dogs and take the cab. Live a little. I'd definitely cab it home after the game. Just my $0.02.

Frank, I lived there for almost 9 years and have been asked this question many times. My only question to you is, is your life worth 12 bucks??????????? I saw and heard some pretty bad stuff while there. You could walk that route a hundred times without an incident, but why take the chance?

90% of the time that you get hit in that city is when you make yourself a victim (walking alone, taking shortcuts, not being aware of your surroundings).
