Default Tree Cutting Close Call!

Boy did I have a close call yesterday. If you look closely at this picture, you will see a rope. The rope as you can see is tied to the tree. What you don't see is that the other end is attached to the trailer hitch of my Tunda. That rope is going in the direction i was trying to get the tree to fall in.

Well... The weight and the lean of the tree were just too much to overcome with the "Yota" and it ended up falling perpendicular to the direction I was pulling it, falling EXACTLY in the middle of my fence gate opening. Not on the fence, not on the house, but in the 12 ft of space that it wouldn't crush a thing. Here's Maddie striking a pose with my pretty work!

Thank you Tree Cutting Gods...

Extremely dangerous work. I got close to getting hit by a huge limb that we were cutting. The tree inside was rotted and the limb snapped before we could do anything. It swung back and forth alongside the bucket truck we rented. Shear luck that both of us didn't get killed.

like the ole saying......" better lucky than good anyday"

glad everything worked out and no-one got hurt
although I do have one question, you said you wanted it to fall in the direction of the rope.... are those some type of wires/lines I see hanging between the tree and you, in the direction you wanted it to fall. maybe just the way it looks in the photo

While I agree with dumb luck over skill, the truck of choice would have been a Power Stroke diesel, 8000 + lbs. is a benefit... I had the chance to pull a stump out of a friendís yard and left a crater you could lose a Chevy in...no offence ... just some good fun.
