Alt Nation has new, actual music on XM/Sirius. No, I don't like all of it, but if you're looking for new music that isn't all crap, that's your start.

I still check over to the pop stations from time to time, but I cannot listen to most of it.

2 songs in particular, I can't quite figure out though. Beyonce put out a song about "girl power." Now, lots of pop music sucks, but it at least has a beat or a hook. That one? There is not one redeeming quality about that song, and I cannot figure out why it was a) created or b) played at all, ever. Crap, I can't remember the other one, but it was just as horrible. Can't remember the artist, subject of the song... it's pretty recent so someone might have the same thought. I'm guessing it was Kanye, but I can't put my finger on it at the moment. Regardless, just like the Beyonce song, there wasn't one redeeming quality about the thing and there it was, being played on my radio and I listened all the way through once just to be sure of it. When the South Park episode on the subject came up recently, I could totally relate.

That's not to say I give a pass to the other stuff, but I'd listen to Katy Perry sing for 24 hours straight if my other choice was listening to either of those songs once. Naturally, it would make it a lot easier if it 24 hours of Katy Perry videos.

Anyway, even if you don't have Sirius or XM, try to find a play list and check out some of the new bands they play. Several of them are very, very good.
