Default Sugar Bowl bound...Parking advice??

Heading to the Superdome on Jan. 4th to see the Hogs play Ohio State. We got a room at a Hampton Inn in Slidell. I've never been to a game in New Orleans.
Could someone please offer some advice on where to park, & how early we should try to arrive.
I'm renting a car as I didn't want to subject my truck to New Orleans.
I know there aren't many Razorback fans on here. I hope that the majority of you will be rooting for us as we are a SEC team.

Thanks
Frank

GO HOGS!!!!

I would get there many hours before the game. Find a parking garage. It is not cheap. Then head to the French quarters wearing your colors. You will have a blast on Bourbon street. Then head to the dome for the pre game party!!

Slidell is not close to the dome.

There are a bunch of small parking lots all over New Orleans. I went to a Saints game this weekend and parked about 10 blocks south of the Superdome. I then got a cab since I have an injured knee but it would not be a bad walk. The cabs have special rates for the games, I paid $5 per person. I would suggest getting there a few hours early and grab some lunch before going to the stadium. It will help you with missing all the traffic and finding a good inexpensive parking lot.

First thing you should do is change hotels. Slidell is a 45 minute drive and then cancel the rental car. There's no reason not to take your own. Then get a downtown hotel and park your car in their lot and leave it. Hang in the French Quarter before the game and then head to the dome and visit the new Champions Square for an hour or so before kickoff. There will be bands, great food and a huge party at the dome, but driving back across the bridge after a long day/night of partying is not going to be fun and any money you're saving will be offset by driving your own car.

I go to every Saints game. Believe me.

Hal pretty much hit it on the head. I too, go to the Sugar Bowl every year. Slidell may as well be in another state. Pensacola to New Orleans is an easy drive anyway (assuming that is where you are coming from). Plenty of lots and parking decks right there by the exit 235B if I remember correctly. I think I paid $25 last time. Easy walk from there. We usually pregame at Redfish Grille. Get there at LEAST 3 hours before the game, as there is plenty to do around that area and time will fly.

Found a 4 star downtown, one block off St. Charles Ave, & one block off Canal. The International House Hotel.
It was the only one I could find downtown. Good reviews.

Thanks Again Guys!!

St. Charles to the dome will be a fun walk up/down Canal Street. Much easier/more fun staying close and walking.
