That lead boot is shot and needs to be replaced but I can give you a solution that would have worked before the base was messed up. It still might work if buy some good caulk. All you had to do is buy a PVC pipe that was one size bigger than what was on the roof. Cut to size and slope the bottom cut to fit the pitch of the roof. Caulk the base and spray paint to match the roof. I would also recommend buying a cap to the pvc and cutting a hole in it to match the diameter of the original pipe on the roof. Example : the pipe on the roof is 2". You buy a 3" diameter piece of pvc. Buy a cap and cut a 2" hole in it so you don't get water running down in between the lead boot and the new sleeve. You can actually buy these already premade but they're like $50. You can make it for a lot less.

My neighbor's dog kept getting into the trash so I put a little Tobasco on the lip of the can and I didn't have anymore problem. I liked the dog after that. I bet that it would work for squirrels on that pipe. I've seen them chewing on my fence post. Guess that they like to sharpen their teeth on metal.

if you get caught, it's illegal. if you shoot squirrels inside the city limits, you may be a redneck. if you sleep with your wifes sister, you may be a redneck. if you drive 55 outside of century. fla., it's illegal. you may get a ticket, if your caught.

Lol..sorry wasn't trying to bore you, I just didn't want someone to walk outside and start capping squirrels and get an unpleasant visit from the po po. Some are more strict than others. For what its worth, as long as someone is exercising common sense I don't see the big deal. When I was a kid I learned to shoot a gun going after squirrels with a BB gun in my grandparents back yard. Of course, thanks to my grandfather seeing me shoot more than he told me I could one day, I also learned how to clean them real quick too!

Here's how they handle the squirrel problem in Louisiana.

Squirrel cook-off set for Saturday

By William Johnson [email protected] October 15, 2010 The inviting smells of some of the best squirrel stews in the region will fill the air at the Washington Campground Saturday . Sportsmen of all ages will come together to celebrate hunters helping hunters.

The 11th Annual St. Hubert Benevolent Society Squirrel Cook-off will get under way at 10 a.m. at the campground on the banks of Bayou Courtableau, just off La. 10.
Throughout the day, visitors to the free festival will be treated to live music by area musicians, a BB-gun shooting contest for children five to 15, an auction, fun jumps and more.
"The whole impetus behind this project is to bring hunters together to help hunters in need," said Meredith Burleigh with the society.
Each year, the proceeds from the event are donated to help a hunter or their family deal with extraordinary medical expenses. Therefore, she said, while admission is free, donations are always welcome.
While the fun is going on, including Civil War re-enactors and the firing of a period-style cannon, camp cooks from throughout the region will be competing for prizes.
Registration for the cook-off, which begins at 10 a.m., is $50. The top five dishes will win hunting gear.
Judging will begin at 3 p.m. and the fun will last until evening.
For the cooking contest, teams must prepare their own dishes on site using squirrel meat as the main ingredient.
"Tasso and sausage are the only other meats allowed to accompany the squirrel," Burleigh said.
Judges will rate the dishes on tenderness of meat, seasoning and presentation.
Dr. Kerry Thibodeaux, who help found the society, said the idea for the event began a decade ago when a friend was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's Disease.
The medical bills quickly piled up. "The family was in significant distress," Thibodeaux said.
He wanted to help and the idea of a fund-raising event came to mind.
"He was a avid outdoorsman, so a squirrel cook-off seemed appropriate," Thibodeaux said.
Thibodeaux said squirrels appealed to him because they are often the first thing a youngster learns to hunt.
"The response was overwhelming. We were able to retire his entire medical debt," Thibodeaux said.
He said the response has grown every year since then to the point that the society now also sponsors a spring rabbit cook-off and is in the process of expanding its mission of mercy statewide.
"To date we have raised more than a quarter-million dollars to pay off medical-related debts," Thibodeaux said.
He said the name for the group is taken from St. Hubert, a 13th Century European nobleman and the patron saint of hunters.
"He was also an avid outdoorsman," Thibodeaux said.

Thanks to everyone for your input. A couple weeks ago I spoke to a PPD office about the issue of firing a BB/Pellet Gun in the city limits, his replay was "It's only illegal if you get caught".

So yesterday I went by Academy and picked up a Daisy 880s BB/Pellet gun with scope. After some practice and some misses yesterday, I had some success this morning. Head shot in the trees from about 15 yards.

Plan A = If you are really serious about getting rid of them , Get some Rat poison and blend it with peanut butter and make a ring around your pipe.
Problem solved.
i like the " one Bite " that is sold at Trim a lawn on Gulf beach hwy.

Plan B = BB gun + Gut , Skin , dress and Boil on low for 1 hour with salt , de bone , add pepper , return to pot with 1 can of chicken stock and break up 1 can of Biscuits into small pieces , simmer for 1 hour and serve.

Hope this helps !
