Default Not sure where you are going with this.

2.We have killed squirls up to 200'... a bit of hold over is necessary past that. I keep the rifle in my shop so I don't have to rush into the house to grab it when the tree rats are raining pine cone husks into my truck bed.
3. Blasting those squirrels, whether causing collateral damage to the roof or not, will solve not only the squirrel issue, but give you a peace and comfort only known by discharging firearms.
You have to fix the roof anyway. What's a few more holes?

4. and the best::After looking around for my neighbor (s), before I shoot i plan to shoot one squirrel and only one shot at a time. no matter hit or miss late in the evening or early in the morning... if one falls to the ground let him lay for awhile, so as not to attract to much attention to what just happened.
Is this rush for political correctness? The Lord granted us responsible dominion over the animals. Should we spay squirrels? Or just hand out condoms?

I'm not sure spaying or condoms are acceptable here in the deep south. I think Mom and Dad should spend more time promoting "abstinance".

But whatever you do, don't talk about sex in squirrel middle school. That might lead to sex between young squirrels.

Sorry,... thought Burnt Drag's post was funny...

You are right to have concerns. you don't want the neigbors to know you are shooting the tree rats.

I have a pecan tree next to my house in the city of Pensacola that was full of pecans until a week ago...

The next year's crop i plan to try and protect. with one of these.

Hate to be so stealthy about it, but there are some people that would not understand no matter what...and you are more likely to find them in an urban environment.

guess i will be going to renfroe's and paying for any pecans I eat this winter.

would be open to other options to get rid of them as well, but i figure the air gun will be nice to have if nothing else for plinking and target practice.

That Whisper is one sweet little air gun. The trigger isn't the best in the world, but you can find drop in triggers that solve that problem. Accurate and powerful enough to get the job done. I tried trapping the squirrels for a while, but when I counted 18 of them in the back yard at one time the pellets came out.

I am also a fan and accomplished shooter of the 1,000fps Gamo Shadow...
It will hit the kill zone of a squirrel at 40+ yards consistently...

Here is the naked eye view of my 40+ yard shooting...

Here is the zoomed in camera view...

How I had the little can set up...

And the results from one of my 2 shots... I checked the can after shot #1 and was able to follow it up with another clean hit...

The Gamo lineup is pretty good!

The green star shapped rat/rodent poison will do it. Put a screw thru the poison up high on tree or fence where they hang out (you don't want good animals or kids to get it). Maybe even screw a piece onto facia board on your eve where where they are eating the flashing. After said squirrels are dead remove promptly to keep dogs from eating. My dumb ass dog had a poisoned rat for a snack one afternoon. I spent the rest of the day forcing him to puke out the rat pieces with salted hydogen peroxide.

The more I think about it a pellet gun and a 12 pack sound like a fun afternoon. I have a co2 crossman pistol. It will kill the s**t out of pigeons at over 40 feet. Six round as fast as you can pull the trigger. It was cheap also.

Wire up some chicken wire or heavier gauge metal fencing around the vent. Will still vent fine, you won't have to worry about overshooting.

Course if you just plain hate the squirrels, fire away. Surely they give you plenty of ground opportunities if you don't want to roof shoot

Susan bought me that pellet gun posted earlier. Between my son and myself, we don't have many squirls in the area around our house, and the ones we do run like hell when they hear the cock of the gun. My son has been shooting them 75-100' away.

???? I agree with shooting them !! these were great comments !! no political correctness here. KILL THEM !!
political correctness is giving the squirrels a entitlement program, a holiday, and some type of syndrome that causes them to chew a hole in your house. Oh, and a protected status,,,

squirrel condoms !! wonder if they come in a magnum size ?

anyhow, there is a "rat shot" for a .22. A little bitty cute shot gun type round, that would work wonders on squirrels, with out as much damage to the house. My dad has a neighbor up her in Pace uses that shot for his .22 to shoot at the carpenter bees that borough into the wood trim of his house !
