jw1973, mark and i have the same ambition. i have a nylon 66 that i breach load with one 22 short at a time. got two yesterday. last year, i had a bumper crop of pecans. the squirrels ate the bumper and the crop. i got a few, though, killed 17 last year. this year, i'm chasing 10 new ones. i think the population is going down. 22 shorts sound like a co2 rifle. i just don't let the neighbors see me shooting. some people actually like the little bastards.

The 22 is probably too dangerous in a neighborhood - as some of the other members stated. Also, if you miss you will put a hole in the roof with a 22. I have looked at roofs that were leaking before that had bullet holes in them. Probably from someone shooting in the air - it has to come down somewhere. When I was younger, I hunted all the time with a single shot Daisy pellet rifle. It was deadly on squirrels and rabbits and made very little noise. By the way, after you get rid of the squirrels go ahead and replace that lead boot. If it's not leaking now, it will soon.

Confession is good for the soul:

I fed them for a week when we first got married. Thought it was cool to watch them off the back porch.

Did not think it was cool when they took up residence in the attic. Squirrels died of lead poisoning.....

That's been almost 19 years ago.

Ok! So, I got that off my chest. See, there is hope for people after all!

Go to a novelty store and purchase a large rubber snake. Attach it in proximity to the damaged area. This worked remarkably well for me.

I have a 15 year old with a 22 Cal. pellet rifle by Remington. The kid and the gun are spot on. He also uses the tail fur for tying in some of his flies. Need less to say we have no squirrel problems.

My rifle is the .177 cal. Had I been more aware at the time of purchase I would have gone for the .22. However my Gamo CFX is a fine gun. It get's the job done

Hey Folks first of all I'm a huge fan of squirrel hunting myself but just to give you a heads up, its illegal to discharge an air gun or even a darned slingshot inside city limits (Pensacola) Usually warnings are given unless someone calls you in for shooting some kind of wildlife. Thats when panties start getting knotted! Sure is tempting though when you see all that easy table fare just running right in front of you

it's illegal, it's illegal, it's illegal. do y'all ever get tired of hearing that boring remark?
if you get caught, it's illegal. if you shoot squirrels inside the city limits, you may be a redneck. if you sleep with your wifes sister, you may be a redneck. if you drive 55 outside of century. fla., it's illegal. you may get a ticket, if your caught.

Default flashing

The little rodents love the lead which your vent flashing is made of. Replace with the poly type flashing and they will go away.
