Bulletproof, thanks for the advice and offer. Unfortunately I live out near Perdido Key. I think I'm going to look for someone who will remove some trees and stumps for me and clear out that wooded patch that I have. If anyone know a good person/company that offers that kind of service please let me know.

I think you are on the right path with clearing all the property. It may not eliminate them, but it will put their "preferred" area further away from you, your children and pets. I personally hate snakes, but they are part of nature. If you are going to have an area for brush, make sure it is far, far away from where you are going to be. Also make sure when working in it to protect yourself. I live in a wooded area with water. A grea of my neighbors bought small excavating equipment so that they could move brush easily. This was all to keep the creatures, mainly snakes, away as well as be able to quickly clean up after hurricanes.
