2nd one in 2 weeks, about 8" long and highly aggressive

Water Moccasin?













like to know what I am finding.....

It's been a while since I've seen a water mocassin but I don't remember them having such a distinct pattern like that.

Did you kill it? Did it have fangs?

It's hard to tell with dark pics but it is definitely venomous, can't mistake that head. Tough call between a copperhead or water moccasin.

That triangular, wedge shaped head is a bad sign. Venomous snake. Bet you found it not too far from water.

Eyes should also have slit, cat pupils rather than round eyes. You let me know how that part of the ID goes.

Be easier to tell once the head was removed from the water moccasin's body...
