Default Shrimp Trawling and weird day

Today was weird. Wife had a serious medical visit so we went expecting an all-day thing. Ended up not taking long and all was well, yeah!

On the way home saw the Brunson net place and stopped in. After some conversation took a 16 ft trawl home and some crab nets. Nice folks and good prices.

Got to the house later and of course she wanted to trawl (may have been the drugs talking but hey, whatever she wants right?)

My first trawl experience as the driver. Dropped the trawl after some untangling and pulled for about 40 minutes.

Pulled in the net and we had a crab trap, two stingrays over 20 lbs, a ton of catfish and other fish and some MONSTER SHRIMP!!!! And squid, and octopus, and whatnots.

The crab trap was problematic. What to do? I tried to pull it in but got finned by catfish (one in the arm, one in the knee) so ... ouch... plan B.

We hooked the bag on to the cleat and putted home.

Called the neighbors for help. Beached the boat and we folded the net back over the trap and managed to get everything untangled. Saved what we could (stingrays and catfish are real resilient) and picked about 2 dozen nice shrimp.

Cleaned up the boat and net, and really had a great time. Can't wait to try it again, hopefully without catching an old ghost crab trap.

Thank goodness for the good news. My wife may have to go back for a second neck surgery in less than 6 months. Where is this Brunson place?

Sounds like a lot of effort for 2 dozen shrimp but I guess it was fun.
