Insurance in Mississippi is a joke. Last year State farm got a 405 increase in premiums, and provided less insurance for it. This year they are getting a 19% increase. I pay over twice as muchin Mississppi for half the insurancei get here in Pensacola. Of course, I had a wind mitigation inspection, which saved me a ton. Doesn't matter in MS the Insurance Commissioner is a crook

I've told people about Rebuild Northwest Florida on here over and over but no one seems to try it out. It is a federal program that includes the inspections you are talking about. The homeowner pays 25% of the total cost while FEMA grants cover the other 75%. I am having my home done as we speak. The savings on homeowners insurance will pay for the 25% in usually 3 years. This programs includes new garage door with wind rating, hurricane shutters on all windows and most entry doors, straps on rafter to wall connections in your eaves, gable bracing on large gable ends, and foam spray in your attic if your home was built in the early 90's and staples were used instead of nails. Not all homes require the isynene foam spray.

Rebuild's # is 497-7024

We have tried and tried to get Rebuild to hire us on for the inspections and they said they don't want to do the inspections so this is news to me. Are you confusing them with My Safe Florida Home? I charge $50 for forum members

Rebuild has an inspector that does the initial evaluation/inspection. From that point on the vendors come in and inspect/recommend for each individual component. You pay $200 up front which is theirs if you do not have anything done, but it goes to your 25% payment if you have at least $800 total improvements done. Going through the process now.

The inspection is also good for five years. So pay for it once and save for five years on your insurance before you need it again...

I use Key Insurance and I can't remember who I had do the wind mitigation report but I remember it was part of the initial home inspection which I paid $50 for.

Bullshark (2/2/2010)Thanks for this! The people who will save the most are people who have a big named insurance company. And if you don't want to leave one of the larger companies the wind mitigation inspection I do will save you $ regardless of the insurance company you have.I just do mitigation inspectionsso that is justan opinion from a consumer. I switched to a independent agent and my bill went from $1750 to about $900 with more coverage. Ofcourse I also provided a wind mitigation formwhich helped that along.

Is this the same as or different then the free "My Safe Florida Home(MSFH) wind certification!" that I had done back in July 2008??

Get legal or get out.

Heavily fine or put in jail the ones hiring illegals.
Soon there would be way less illegals.

How do you know when Trump is doing something right????

When the D.C. status quo elite stuck in the mud out-of-touch pansies are crying foul at everything Trump is doing.

Same deal except when I checked on it in Feb 09 the state had run out of money and wasn't doing the free inspections any longer. May have changed since then.
