I second the ocoee. We went on the big stuff. They flood the river on certain days and the raft trips go. With the flood, the rapids are bigger and there are less rocks to get hung up on. The olympic section sure was hairy! We have also done the chattooga part 4 which has some big class V's.

Not sure if you would want to take a 6 year old on these sections. I know the chattooga has some less severe parts that might be what you are looking for. I think the chattooga part 4 has a minimum age limit of 13.

thanks for that site. I've seen a lot of stuff in N Georgia and up.

Is there anything closer though? I was hoping for something I could make a short trip/weekend out of. I don't think there's anything closer, but just wanted to make sure.

I've got a call into Blackwater. I think for my son's age I have to have two adults in the canoe though.
