Default Refridgerator problem

Does anyone on here do appliance repair near Crestview, or could recommend a good, honest repair tech? I've got a few-year-old kenmore side-by-side in my garage and it's acting up. neither the fridge or freezer is cold anymore. the freezer is blowing air, but it's not cold. i took the covers off the front and back and cleaned the coils and looked around for anything i could see wrong. the condenser fan is running. but the compresor keeps clicking on and off, and it's hot if you touch it. has anyone had this issue? thanks for the help!

I am no appliance repair tech... I do my own repairs if I feel confident.

I know very little of the compressor stuff. One thing to check is the position of the ice maker tray. even if not hooked to water. Some how the defrost cycle is set in time with the timer of the ice maker in many of these machines.
When mine failed the tray was half tilted IIRC.

I had one that had a plastic gear failed. It wouldn't cool. I filed the teeth and dressed them up on the bad gear and it worked fine for a month or 2 then failed again... I simply unplugged and removed the ice maker (they were an option at one time) and it worked fine after that.

May not be your problem but worth ruling in or out...

Forgot to add... Mine would work if tray was in fill freeze position and wire trip switch was raised but kids would often knock it back down gettin' "freezer pops" out...

Here's some things you could look at.

or check if you have a meter.

i appreciate the input yall. brent, i had read about the possibility of a freezer issue and have ruled that out. but if i need a plastic gear reconditioned - i'm coming to see you! ha. i think the 2nd link covers it lastcast. i'm far from capable when it comes to multimeters and voltage and electrical stuff though. thinking it may be a start relay and i've been told it's possible they're not all that expensive depening on make/model/age of the unit. still working on it. thanks again guys!

on the side of the compressor where the cord from your plug goes you will find a small cover under it is the compressor clix-on switch the terminals could be loose or switch bad
