I like a quiet ride when I'm putzing around in my 2000 Tundra. It's actually quieter than my wife's last two SUVs. I want to retain that trait.
However, when I floor the gas pedal, I want to hear that deep, full-throated roar of my V-8. The stock muffler is probably going to need to be replaced in a few years, so I'd like to have something in mind...and I may just go ahead and get myself a Christmas present. Recommendations? Thrush? Glass-Pack? Flowmaster? I wish there were a way to try them out before buying one. |

08 Tundra owner. Magnaflow and do yourself a favor and pop some 1 1/2"holes on the bottom front of your stock airbox for the "secondary" roar. Cheaper than a cold air system/box.

I love toyotas and they are all I drive, but something about a dual exhaust loud Japanese truck always seemed funny or off to me. I know a v8 is a v8 whether it's a bow tie or a yota but I can't help but imagine little ninjas mud riding through the mountains of Japan throwing beer cans out the window hollering and not smile a little. Put a cherry bomb on that sucker! Mercia!

I'm all seriousness though, talk to a muffler shop and see what they recommend. I've been in trucks with flow masters that weren't all that loud at idle or until you punched it but you can DEFINITELY hear the exhaust at an annoying level while cruising 75 mph on the interstate. Might get annoying.

Not sure which loud-ass muffler to recommend. I'll have to ask the kids from the trailer park down the road. They seem to be real fond of them.

I have the Flowmaster dual exhaust I love the sound especially when someone cuts me off and I punch it when I pass them and scare the ship out of them lol, or if I bust some texting and driving I wake them up with the pipes. I had a lady in a 2014 corvette almost side swipe me while texting so i gave her some pipes she threw her phone lol. I'm guilty I put it on a Nissan Titan it has a nice crack noise when you start the truck. To get more rumble get yourself a aftermarket K&N cold air intake kit. I like a somewhat loud truck it sounds tough so I will stick with this till I can get a real truck "diesel."
P.S I don't care for the sound of glass packs.
