Default Pyramid Project - Suggestions?

My 7th grade daughter has to build a pyramid for homework.

Here is the criteria:

Pyramid Project

You will build an Egyptian Pyramid at home and be graded on the pyramid using the following criteria:

1. Materials You can build your pyramid out of anything except the following: wood, paper, cardboard, Styrofoam of Legos. The frame can be made out of wood or cardboard but you have to have something else on the outside.
2. Height/Width - Must be at least 12 inched tall and have 4 slopes. Base has to be at least 12 inches wide.
3. Color brown, golden or white.
4. Sides cannot be steps.

Any suggestions? We have thought about clay, sand, cake, etc. My daughter suggested a wood frame and then duct tape for support and the cover duct tape in clay. We need to build so that it can be carried from a vehicle to the classroom without damage.

My 7th grader thinks duct tape can fix or solve about anything.

Thanks for your advice.

I had to help my daughter do almost the same project, we used sugar cubes. You can make the base out of a perimeter of cubes 12"x12". Then you cut a piece of cardboard slighlty smaller (say 11.5" x11.5") put that on top of the base layer and keep building up, decreasing the size of the next layer as you go up. The center can be hollow, so you really just need to use cubes around the perimeter. The biggest pain was since the pyramid couldn't be stepped, we had to cut the sugar cubes in half diagonally to make smooth sides. It's not as big a pain as it sounds, but I am sure there is probably an easier way. This is what the youngun wanted though, so I obliged.

Make it out of rice krisppy squares then it can be eaten after it has been graded make a big pan with extra marsh mellows so they are more pliable to work with,, you can make them 1 inch thick, they can be cut and formed and put on a frame or make the whole thing solid. Have fun with it.

Make it out of heavy cardboard and smear white sheet rock spackling on the outside.

If you use sheetrock mud, you'll have to put two coats on it to prevent cracks. Let the first dry overnight before applying the second.
