Default Pressure cooker

Just wondering how well they work. Mainly wanted to cook deer and sometimes roast. Are there any advantages over a crock pot?

A pressure cooker will work wonders over any crock pot in 1/4 the time. Mix up some gravy a little watery and put the dear meat pieces or whole roast in about 3/4" of the watery gravy. Meat goes on top of the little tray that comes with the cooker so you don't burn the meat. Cook for about 45 minutes after the rocker starts rocking turn heat down to where the rocker is just rocking enough to let some steam off. The steam and added pressure will do the job and the meat will fall apart when you open the cooker. The brown gravy will flavor the meat also so mix with whatever you like in spices..Let us know how it turns out my wife has been cooking with a presto we got for a wedding gift 45 years ago.

I have been looking for one myself. My father-in-Law states that the big avantage is the cooking time is cut in half

I have an electric. Prefer it over the conventionally heated one because it doesn't use up cooktop space.

The only thing I use ours for is corned beef and cabbage. Their's lots more recipes though. Have done ribs a couple of times but prefer those on the rotissiere. Best advantage is that it's fast and everything comes out very tender.

yep. those presto pressure cookers are great. got mine when my mom died. one of those with the 5, 10, 15 lb. weight. and 2 quaart pot. when it starts to blow, turn the heat down and set the pressure, 5 for a little pressure, etc.
end of story.....my wife sold mine at a yard sale without me knowing.
went looking for the damn thing with a 10 lb. deer roast and she said she didn't know where it was. my son spilled the beans though cause he helped her at the yard sale while i was hunting. son of a
