Default PrePaid Cell Phone Purchases - Suspicious?

What's up with all these reports of "suspicious" purchases of sometimes a hundred pre-paid cell phones? Here is Missouri, just today, there were 5 (I know the report shows 4, but there has been another one since the report) reports of people either being detained or questioned for purchasing several, as in 40, 50, 100. The last incident (not in this report) was of a middle easterner who purchased 33 phones at 0623 today.

Is is for the resale capability? Detonators? Repurpose of the batteries? I am bewildered. So, let me hear your theories.

They use them as detonators for bombs. At least I would think that's what the concern would be.

Let's go all CSI on this...
Burner phone usually bought with cash untraceable to a specific person they can be used for drug dealers and even worse terrorists.
Easy to destroy and throw away.

The drug cartel types and gang-banger dope dealers tend to have people go out & purchase pre-paid cells in bulk for them.

There's a lot of Middle-Easterner types in this country involved in various types of organized criminal activity (theft rings, fraud, etc) some of which is for the express purpose of funding ill-intentioned Islamist organizations. They like to have untraceable cell-phones too.

And there's some people who are just involved in the business of selling pre-paid untraceable cells on the street to whoever, for whatever. It's become kind of a cottage industry.

Pre-loaded money cards are becoming more & more common among the criminal element as well in lieu of doing business in cash.

Sounds to me like we need a 3-day waiting period and a background investigation for all these unregistered phones. Oh yeah - and let's ban crazy people - sorry - I mean those with mental issues -from buying phones. Also, no selling them at mall kiosks or flea markets! These things are responsible for too many teenage deaths.

Just seems to me we could stop a hell of a lot more crime, terrorism, and deaths if we had more effective and meaningful phone control - especially those unregistered phones.

Maybe we need a 3-day waiting period and background investigation for posting privileges on the PFF? Ya gotta prove you've ever actually caught a fish!

(To tell the truth, I haven't been fishing in a coupla of months ... but there's some reasons for that. They're not all good ones ... but they're reasons nonetheless.)

There have also been a large number of propane tanks stolen in Missouri and Kansas, near Kansas city.

Yes, the internet and all local news media is all abuzz about the continuing rash of large volume purchases of prepaid phones, by cash, by middle easterners. And, the multiple thefts of 20# propane tanks from different locations. Then, there are the reports of idiots attempting to purchase firearms for 3x the list price for cash.

I do not know what to make of all of this, so I think I'll just pack my camper and go fishing.
