I don't see a point to firing him now if something else was not lined up.

Don't tell anyone but rumor has it.... they have asked to talk to the ole ball coach after the sec championship... I'm sure there have been feelers and conversations going on for some time. I think there's enough pressure to make a good hire.

Just wanted to make sure you knew I was joking. After reading my post again it could look like I was serious about Steve but I was serious about pressure to make a good hire.

The sad thing is his name was brought up tonight on a Miami message board. It would never happen. The U hates the old ball coach. If I remember right he was in play when corch was hired. Corch is how Randy says the word coach. It stuck!

Sad thing is I miss his passion and creativity even though he was an ass. Our current offensive offensive guru, offensive is a adjective in the first iteration, needs to go.

Thank you Coach Shannon for your dedication and for bringing respectability to the program's academic and off-the-field reputation. But, when a university has set the bar as high as the U has, national prominence, BCS games and sold-out stadiums are ultimately what matters. Take a page from 'Bama's long trip out of mediocrity when they hired Saban....hiring from within has not and will not work.

The list:

Mario Cristobol - A former player during Miami's run of dominance, Cristobal coached at Miami from 1998-2000 and 2004-2006. He is currently the head coach at Florida International and knows area high school coaches very well.
John Gruden - The former Super Bowl winning head coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has been in the media for a few years but remains a hot name any time a major vacancy opens. Gruden has coaching experience in South Florida.
Mike Leach - His name is being mentioned for vacancies at major colleges and for good reason. Leach had great success at Texas Tech is reportedly looking to get back into coaching somewhere soon.
Chris Petersen - Not sure if the head coach at Boise State would make the cross-country move but many are mentioning his name. Perhaps Peterson has gotten tired of the Broncos' no-AQ issues.
Mark Richt - Some of the Georgia faithful have grown frustrated with the accomplished head coach in Athens, who has won two SEC Championships. Richt played college football for the Hurricanes.
Greg Schiano - The architect of the Rutgers program, Schiano has taken the Scarlet Knights from obscurity to respectability. He was the defensive coordinator at Miami from 1999-2000 and knows the area.
Tommy Tuberville - The current head coach at Texas Tech was the an assistant with the Hurricanes from 1986-1993. He has head coaching experience with Ole Miss, Auburn and the Aggies.
