I used to live in a South Atlantic League town - Augusta - and they had a AA team and a semi water front stadium like Pensacola is planning. It was awesome. Thirsty Thursdays were my favorites. Two 12 oz beers for $2. Quality baseball and a great family atmosphere - even with all that beer.
This could be a very big boost for all things downtown which likely will translate to good things for all of Pensacola and surrounding areas.
AA baseball isn't going to save the world but it's a cash source for all kinds of businesses.

The good thing is this should be "quality baseball" which is what the Pelicans lacked. I know alot of people didn't attend Pelican games because of the quality of that independent league. This should be alot better ball and fill some more seats. Hopefully it ends up being a good thing for this city.

That's why Quint Studer was the only one from Gulf Breeze to regularly attend Pels games.
UWF was just too far. The family and I went once or twice but I'll be looking at season ticket packages with it being so much closer.

Taken from Orlando's proposal: Potential (AA) Facility Program - the minimum number of seats to qualify for a (AA) certification is 6,000, whereas the minimum number of seats for (AAA) certification is 10,000 seats. Typically, (AA) parks have between 1,500 and 2,000 parking spaces within a 5-minute walk from the ballpark. These can come in many forms (shared parking garages, surface parking, on-street parking, etc) none of which we have currently available. About 200 spaces would need to be adjacent to the field to accommodate VIPs and handicap accessibility requirements."

Where are the plans for the modified stadium? If it takes as long to get the plans changed and rebid as it has so far it will be 2015 before the team can play. How many of the other selling points for the park will be modified or discarded in the effort to accomodate this huge change? Or maybe more to the point, will the park become a stadium only?
The original design always conceived of expansion. This is not a problem.

Somehow I think this was the plan all along! Great job. I like the whole idea.
