we went to Atlanta this weekend too.....stayed in Marietta. Took 50 some-odd 8th graders on a field trip. We spent the night after they all came back to P'cola. The highlight up my trip was my breakfast at Marietta Diner. I eat there every time we have a Lockheed conference or go up for an aircraft recovery. Always good eats!! I've been wanting to see the aquarium too...gotta do that soon.

You guy's should have stopped in Calera and caught a Tuna-man. Something everyone should do if they have the opportunity. Cheetah III is a pretty good attraction for a road trip as well when you turn 21.

VS, glad you had a great time. ATL is a fun getaway that isn't a bad road trip at all. The aquarium is great. I didn't see any alligators when I went, I hate I missed that. Amazing place though and I only had three hours, could have stayed all day.

ESPN Zone - Great place, half price all appetizers during the week, 10-12. That's the way to go. The games are fun upstairs but often broken. Dave and Busters is great, I wish I had the money to invest in one forPensacola. It is only 21 and up after 9 or 10 at night though. All ages during the day.

Next time you go to Atlanta, you must go to the Varsity and get a hot dog or burger, fries and milkshake. It alone will be worth the trip. It's just North of Turner Field on the same sideof the interstate. You also must go to Ikea and check that store out. Get a snack while you're there at the cafeteria. Swedish meatballs! It's Sweden's version of Wal-MartI guess but it's an experience. Some stuff is junk but prices can't be beat. It's worth just walking through. Also go eat at a place in Decatur called the Flying Biscuit. Best grits you will ever eat. Even better than the Fishhouse gouda grits but it's just a low key hole in the wall. Our cousins took us on our last trip there. I won't visit ATL again without eating breakfast there.

Calera is where Tuna Man is I think. Glad you enjoyed your trip!

Yup...Calera is where I live..about 15 miles South of I-459 and 1/2 mile off of I-65. Exit 234 or 231 (depending weather you are heading North or South. You probably saw the exit.."Shelby County Airport"

Asked my wife about Panera Breadand how it was...She owns stock at the Summit, I think :banghead:banghead:banghead Said....Would you believe that I've never eaten there...........YET. I fell out of my chair in total shock.

Varsity Inn.....Good fast food. First went there starting in 1969.

Sounds like you young-ins had a fine trip. Atlanta traffic.....I was weaned on that kind of traffic.

You ain't seen the sticks till you go out where Sam lives. Sam, are you still drawing water out of the creek?

Glad you enjoyed your visit, but I live 30 minutes north of Atlanta, in Gwinnett County, and I never venture down there.I would like to see the aquarium, but not enough to wander into the wilds of downtown Atlanta.

CB glad yall had a fun trip! I'm taking Ernie there in 2 weeks - gonna see family & friends, going to the Blade Show & also the aquarium. I lived in Kennesaw which is a little North of Atlanta. I miss going to see the Braves, that was always fun! As far as getting away for the weekend, we went to PC and got stuck in traffic Sun afternoon on 3 mile bridge. It was a classic youtube moment, there wereSuvs fullof people from Mobile(huge BBQ pit included)and right next to them a truck full of guys with shaved heads flying a rebel flag. I had the camera set on video just in case...

I've never been to the aquarium in Atlanta. Has anyone been to both the Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans and the Atlanta Aquarium. Just curious how the two compare. The last time I went to the aquarium in N.O. was about 12-15 years ago, it was something else. I recommend to anyone

going to any aquarium find out what the feeding schedule is and get a frontrow seat for the action. The tarpon seemed to be the first to eat, but about a 40# tarpon swooped in on a live shrimp that big shark had its eye on. Long story short, one less tarpon, the shark bit him in half and a couple of his buddies came along and finished him faster than it took you to read about it.
