Default Outside AC unit

All is well. Thanks for the help. I replaced the capacitor and then the burnt fan motor. $62 and done. PFF saved me a ton I'm sure.

There are allot of possibilities.

One - the humming is the contactor, it is energized with the 24 volt system because your thermostat is calling for it to. And there is no 220 volt power to run it. Check fuses, / circuit breaker.

Two - Condenser fan motor stopped working and the humming is the compressor, it is over heated, and will hot to the touch.

Get past these two items to check, and then post back up.

Could be the start capacitor for the fan motor causing fan not to start and just hum. Thats what mine did 2yrs ago and once it was changed its worked fine.

This is a pretty good bet, and like Banana said the fuses.

I finally got time to get my capacitor. I changed it out and it all sounds different....as in it sounds right. My fan wasn't turning when I turned the breaker back on. I was thinking it should. Maybe the fan motor? or does it take a few minutes to kick on when needed?

If the unit is trying to cool, the fan motor should be running.
