I have friends and family that are tatted up and they are some of the finest people I know. That being said, what is cool to you now may not be later so keep that in mind. Then again what do I know I'm just some fat guy.

Now, the 'rest of the story' is to figure out what to do with the advice you have been given.

As I said, personally I don't recommend the tat. It may even be a cop out to go that route.... Not sure if you caught what I said but there is a way to honor your grandfather that I am sure would mean more to him then ink....

... what was so great about the man? Was he Faithful? Was he courageous? Did he have a thing for helping others out? Did he tell the truth>? Figure out the things about him that you most admire, and make a commitment to LIVE those things out in your life. BE the legacy that is a memorial to the man...

... maybe even have the tat, but wait. Here is a suggestion... make the list of the things (whatever YOU come up with, like the list above) and then see if you can live your life to those standards.... If you do, and the tat still seems right in 5 years get it.

I think you will best honor your grandfather by living out the good things he gave you an example of... THAT is a lot harder then putting down your money and getting the ink.... do that first.

Best of luck to you whatever you do.

Did your grandad even like tattoos?? Both of my grandads would come back and kick my ass for trying to get a tattoo "for" them.
And 15 is too young.

1st. I started the thread about girls w/ tattoos because i was basically continuing a thread that was on The Hull Truth boating forum. I think girls with tats do in MOST cases like trashy but thats just me

2 My granddad was one of those people that was everything a kid to ask to teach him... He was that prime example of what people want to think of you.. and i very much act like him in the same ways, he told people what he was thinking and didnt bullshit them in the process (if they were old enough to hear cursing), he also lived by the same things that i live by today, The Three C's
-confidence
-committment
-concentration

3rd. He did like tattoos even though he never had one in his lifetime, we planned on when I turned 16 to go get tats to symbolize each other, we also were going to open a charter co./marina when i got out of college ( i run the boats he does the marina)
with that being said I dont think its going to hurt getting the tattoo done 1 yr earlier

4th... the tattoo's osprey is because my granddads favorite animal in the world is the Osprey, he said they were so majestic and natural hunters/fisherman if we watched them we could learn a lot, and the first fish i ever caught was a redfish with him in his old cape horn drifting pensacola pass jetties, it was a 23 inch fish.
This is why the osprey and the redfish is the centerpiece of his tattoo

thats the sketch of the tattoo, its not huge but its a little more than shoulder blade to shoulder blade... there will also be his birth date/death date to the bottom left and bottom right of it, and eventually i will get something over the top of it that he used to say to me all the time in latin

You should have named this thread "I'm getting a tattoo and this is what I want", not asking what everyone thinks about it and then calling them @ssholes. You obviously had your mind made up. What was the point in asking opinions if you didn't want them??

That is a very large tattoo... shoulder blade to shoulder blade. You are going to grow. Don't know how big you are now, but when I was 15 I was probably 5' 7" and weighed maybe 105 lbs. Skinny little kid. Now I am 6' 2" and weigh about 175... I'm sure I got a lot wider from the time I was 15 to an adult. Just a thought, it might stretch or look weird when you get older/bigger
