I'm against a "Baseball" Stadium too , but I'm all for a TRUE "Multi-use Stadium" ... we could host MANY events , alot of which now go to Orange Beach :banghead ... we could also host a Bowl Game in the future , Mobile has one , why NOT us ?? ... a HUGE economic boon to the Downtown area during a time when there isn't much happening :letsdrink ... it isn't JUST 1 day either , more like an entire week ... the Fans , the Media , the Teams and Family / Entourage ... we're talking MILLIONS of dollars for one event ... the Baseball thing doesn't look too promising for Pensacola :looser ... the team plays at UWF now , and NOBODY goes :banghead ... we could have Cruise Ships here , as do our neighboring cities , which would generate revenue year round too ... I could go on and on about this , I had better stop :doh

Man it really sounds like everybody is excited about it!!oke

To be honest with you I have no clue about this. I just moved back to Pensacola in May. So I don't know any of the details about the park or the voting or anything like that. I do like the idea of the whole thing. I do feel they need to do something like this in that area. That place has been just sitting there for as long as I have been alive. I used to fish right there when I was growing up, caught my first red fish there 20 years ago. We were actually trespassing and we had to watch out for the bums but it is pretty good fishing right there. Don't know if it is all still there but there used to be some old train tracks under the water right there.

Lot's of pretty pix's to look at.

If you look real close, you see one of the first pix's with the boat ramp. You never see it again. Word is that will be in phase two. [Which will never happen!]

You also don't see any place to park truck /trailers.

Totally agree with NOT building a ballpark.

It's a shame that the people in the City limits were the only ones that could vote on this back when. It is my belief that if it was a open to the whole county to vote on it, that it would have FAILED.

There are a select few in this county that will make a fortune off of this and the taxpayers will bare the burden.

Soccer field fesaco ring any bells?

No offense to Ice Pilots fans, but they are not a big attraction and can hardly pay their way. [I've never been]

First, the ice pilots suck. They play freaking hockey in Florida so who cares?

Second, why should you - or any other person not inside the CRA get a vote on how we spend our money? FYI, I have several properties including my residence in the CRA and I fully support the park.

FWIW, I don't go to any Pelicans games now mainly because its too far from where I live here close to downtown. I WOULD like to go check out some games however at this proposed waterfront stadium. Of course the fact that this is five min.s from my house certainly makes it convienient. It wouldn't suck hitting that beer garden and food stand a few times during the game. Pourman's idea of a multi-use stadium that would allow for even more activities is a good one. How many people is this thing supposed to be able to seat?

I can understand the arguments against a baseball stadium down there, but what would you rather see........private development that would shut most out or the undeveloped weed garden down there now:nonono
