Head out to the beach today and probably tomorrow. There
is a nice swell going on because of the storm. Check out the guys and gals out there, and you'll get some pointers. Got a board yet? Start with something easy to ride, kinda bouyant, go out there and practice in the shore break. If it's in you, you'll get the hang of it real fast. |

good rule for surfing.... if you aren't comfortable swimming out in the conditions, then you have no buisness surfing there... today was no day for a beginner to even be near the water,
we canceled surf camp today, because even though i'm lifegaurd/cpr certified, i hope to god i never have to use the training i have... the way i learned is to just get on a funboard and paddle out and eat sh!t for a few weeks straight.... you'll figure it out... if you want, we offer surf camp through the shop.... check out www.waterboyz.com click on surfboards, then click surf events.

it has already been said. if your not comfortable swimming in it dont paddle out in it. its been a while for me but both my boys surf. everyone seems to be nice in the water these days. when i was in school and surfing was the only thing on my mind, there was some attidude in the water from time to time. im from gulf shores and the p'cola crew would come surf the jetties and ourpeople would get wierd. same in p'cola when we would go there. my sons say everyone is very nice. my oldest sonhad some punk on a short board on a knee high day tell him to get out of his way and go home not to long ago. but i had to remind that young punk he was only surfing my old spot because i was allowing it to happen. ha ha. one more thing. when i surfed all the time i would get worked pretty badwhen i would get caught inside a big set. the older guys would remind me that im not as strong as i think i am. if you get thrown over the falls or your taking wave after wave, just let it do what it wants to you. dont fight it and waste all of your energy. relax, hold your breath, dont freak out then when its over, be on your way. otherwise you might get into trouble. ok im hooked again. see you all in the water!!!!!!!!ESB

Thanks for all the info me and my mom where talking about it, and she said that i can do the lessons at innerlight we live kinda far from the beach and the price of gas is stupid so we would not be able to drive to portifino for a week for the water boyz lessons.
