Consider taking the NRA Basic Pistol class, you can look up instructor's in your area on the NRA website or I can give you a name in the Destin area. I've been shooting for years but I still learned a lot when my wife and I took it. I didn't need the piece of paper, I have a DD214 for that, but I thought it was good for my wife and I to be on the same page. It (or something similar) is also a prerequisite class for the Personal Defense Inside the Home and Personal Defense Outside the Home classes (which I have yet to take).

I will throw out styx river course. My wife took that course and was very pleased with it. I tool capt rons course and found it a little too political for my liking. Great guy and you get to shoot a bunch of different guns.

You meet at the police station at night for the class then meet again in the morning at the Police Shooting range off Beulah Road. I really enjoyed going through it even though I already had my CCW at the time. The officer who taught it was officer Robicheau. I couldn't find anything on their website but it would be well worth giving them a call to ask about it.
been though it twice. once for me and once for the wife. great course. class is free and range is $5. LOTS of useful information by THE MAN. robi is a genuine nut and proud of it.
