I'll agree and say at this point in time TODAY,I'm 95% sure my bro is awol.... The family has a few emails from him 10-14 days after he was offiacally reported missing....At this point in time, Our first priority is to make sure he is safe(Which today t 5:30 cst I THINK he is)but have no proof... But what's pissing me off this weekend is the only offiical notice from the US NAVY which I have saved and documented is that he went missing from the Navy on May 18th...But the document is dated Aug 18th,2010....I so want to chew my my bro's arse...but since we cant contact him..I get to vent on the Navy(sorry).... I'm sure the Army,Navy , Marines,Air Force don't wait 90 days to contact the emergancy POC when the person's goes missing..I know this is NOT a Navy policy(The emergancy poc address and phone number is on the offical notice)....But I'm rationally saying someone Dropped the ball in regards to contacting the family... No one in any service reports a person missing 90 days later to the family...but on the same concept,,today after gathering info..I think he's awol not dead...but not sure

Wanna thank everyone for their help..My brother and I flew out and located my brother this past week and got him to volunterrily turn himself in..He was indeed UA...He missed his movement date due to getting drunk. got scared.and seems like 1 day turned into 97 days before turning himself in....Here's where the situation gets interesting..I have been in contact with the Judge for the boat about the family not being notified...She did an investigation into what happened..His immediate chain of command reported him UA to the boat captain on the day he missed the boat..After that ,,No paperwork was filed ,nor did the Navy look for him...He did not delete his personnell records. They pretty much forgot about him after the boats departure..This was done by his lower ranking chain of command(E-7,O-2).. She honestly said the Navy dropped the ball on notifying the parents..We probably would have never been notified... What made it even worse was we found him living out of his truck 300 yds from the boat..He had lost 35 pds and was very malnurished .. He had been living in his truck since the boat left(95 days). He never left the Navy base. The family is ticked about the whole deal of notification but we are working with the COC to try and let him stay in or at least get him an Other than honarable discharge instead of Dishonorable..

also We understand he missed movement and went AWOl ...Were gonna drop kick his butt for that and understand there are deep consequences for his actions...We are ticked the Navy did not and probably would not have contacted us..He would have starved himself to death before we found out... He was too proud to call his family for help. But thanks for all of ya'll's help and info.. He's safe, being fed and I hope they are smoking his butt everyday !!!

Glad to hear that your brother is alive and recovering. How in the #[email protected]& did he subsist out of his truck (I am assuming that he was on a base) for that length of time without someone (security specifically) not realizing that he was there?

He was living on cookies from the Liberty Center ...Base security was never looking for him...He was never turned in as a deserter...The Legal dept on boat didn't know he was missing until Aug 17th...Outside of his immediate supervisor's ,,no one in Navy realized he was missing..The reason we found him was the Liberty Center Director..He said he looked just like us except way smaller..He said over the last 2 months he spent hours in the liberty center every day..We waited at Liberty Center for 4 hours ,,then he showed up... We fed him about 10pds of food that day..He got sick , so we slowed his eating down...got him cleaned ,showered, shaved, uniform pressed, then took him to base security ,where he turned himself in.
