i was in there a while back with a old bow a friend had given to me. i asked for help wondering if the bow i had needed anything before the season started. im very new at bow hunting, so i didnt know what i had. there was a young guy(maybe 20 at the most)help me. when i asked a question he couldnt answer, he called for help. thats when the superstud showed up and told me that my bow was maybe cerca 1990's and not very well taken care of.then he left. i dont know the diff, but the young dude still treats me very well. i did get a hell of a deal on some snake boots while i was there. but screw the dude that smerks at your gear especially when your new and dont know crap about what you got.

I called Outcast a while back looking for a gift for my girl and the dude on the phone knew me by name even though I have not been able to throw them enough business since I moved to Perdido. I went to Mike's the other night and had to pay 40 bucks for .380 ammo so I didn't have to throw my concealed carry gun at a would be assailant. However, young man behind the counter went out of his way to help me. My preference would be Outcast, but Mike's did OK for me.

LOL i love some of these horror "stories" about Mikes! "I refuse to shop in there cause of something that happened 16yrs ago" or "i went in there and i wanted to buy something but the guy helping me made me wait ONE minute to answer the phone so i will never shop there again!" Are you serious!!?? I have bought every single bow ive ever owned from that place and Pat is the only person i will EVER let mess with my equipment. I was in there today for probably close to 2hrs and i cant tell you how many times i heard someone thanking the associates for their help. You may have to wait a little bit for help when you come in there but this isnt WalMart. Try this, next time you go into Walmart, take your bow with you and ask the guy behind the counter to paper tune it.lol You have to think about it, just about every person that comes in there needs personal assistance, that in turn makes the other people that come in have to wait until he is free. So dont get pissed when you walk into the shop at 530 when everyone is getting off of work, there are 5 people ahead of you and the staff are running around like chickens with their heads cut off and you have to wait a few minutes. Thats just the way it is. Dont get on here and run people off from their business cause thats exactly what is happening. There have already been a few people that said that they wont shop there because of this thread and that is BULLSHIT! There is no way in hell i believe that you walked into Mikes and the guy behind the counter OF A GUN AND AMMO STORE told you you can dump as much power as you want in your reloads!!!! If he reloaded that way, he wouldnt be alive long enough to give you that terrible advice...

Just picked my new Tikka T3 up today. Guy helping me was great very helpful and they didn't even charge me to mount and bore sight a scope I had laying around the house. Fist time I've ever bought a gun at a GUN STORE and not had a mounting fee for a scope that wasn't bought from the store but then again most of the guns I've bought have been in PA.

Went to Mike's about 5 years ago with $1500 cash in my pocket. I knew exactly what I wanted and I was a return customer. I wanted a Glock 30 with a lasermax internal site. When I asked that old bastard behind the counter about it he literally laughed in my face and asked if I needed to go learn how to shoot (because I wanted the laser). I explained to the old coot that I could shoot just fine, but I wanted the laser for intimidation purposes in the event of a home invasion at night. The guy just said well when I see a red dot that just tells me where to shoot at (and laughed at me again). NICE. I walked to my car and went straight to Jay's where they sold me what I wanted without any dumbass comments or questions.
Fast forward 5 years and I went back to Mike's thinking that maybe things have changed around there. This time I'm in the market for an AR-15. Walked up to the counter and ask the young man what he has in the way of .223. He gives me a damn sale paper showing a S&W for $699 with a mail in rebate and then walks away. He looked mighty pissed that I was wasting his time. I just muttered some expletives and walked out again. The place could do some serious business if they didn't hire shit heads to deal with the public. Until then, I have no reason to deal with anyone other than Jays.

I have never been charged to have a scope mounted and bore sighted if I bought either a scope or gun from a gun shop. That must just be a Yankee thing.

I know it has already been said but, I think what some of you need to realize is that this is a gun store, not wal-mart. These guys have penny-pinching "customers" come in everyday and waste two hours of their time asking questions about guns etc. , knowing full well that when they find out the info they need they are going to walk out the door and go to academy or wal-mart just to save $30.

You have to understand that when "they are ignoring you", they may have another customer hounding the hell out of them and they are running around trying to help them. Just because there is not someone by their side when you run into them doesn't mean they aren't helping someone.

The bottom line is that most of the guys in Mike's are as good of people as you will ever find and will help you in anyway possible. They also know about their products from first-hand experience. Be patient and when they are done helping the person in front of you, you will receive the same service.

As Sculls said, good luck getting Academy or Wal-mart to help you tune a bow, or better try walking in there with a gun that you need something done too and see what happens
