Default Mac or PC

I'm thinking about a new computer and have a buddy that swears by Apple. So I thought I would bring it here for opinions. Mac guys tell me good and bad about mac desktops. I've been a Windowa user since 3.1 so I have a pretty good idea about the Microsoft side of the coin.

Either will work fine for normal use. Mac is more expensive, but I won't go back to a PC. Once you go Mac, you won't go back. There is a learning curve to switch from a PC, but a Mac is more intuitive so once you get the basics you should be good. My kids will be Macheads since that is all they've known.

There are a few things you cannot do on a MAC. for me there are a couple interface issues with my companies programs.

Trying a program now that will manage waypoints on my GPS. No problem in Windows.

But start up is lightning fast, only freezes a few times, reboot is FAST.

I have a 13" Macbook Air... no place for a DVD, but I have an external DVD player.

More expensive, but after 6 months I think it'll be worth it over the years.

Used them both but I prefer the PC. More programs available. More upgradeable.

Depends on what you want to use it for. I do a lot of graphics and iMovies and I think that it is generally easier to use. Not sure why but my Macs have lasted longer than the PCs that I owned. I have not had a Mac crash from a virus but my friends on PCs seem to have more problems with this. I also own a PC for programs I can't run on Mac but I reach for the Mac most of the time. Spooney is right, it is hard to go back. On the down side Macs cost a lot more.

I think one thing is to consider is that Mac users are uncompensated evangelists. Rarely do you see the same kind of enthusiasm with PC.

MAC! I have not had any problems, nor I have I found anything that I couldn't do. You will pay more for the MAC, but you get what you pay for.

Mac...

I have a MacBook and love it. I also have an iPad and iPhone so I think I am a pretty spoiled Apple user!

Wirelessly posted

I have a MacBook and really like it. Like others have said, it doesn't crash and seems to last a long time. I've had mine for three years without a single issue. Can't say that about any PC I've owned.
