Default LCD vs. LED... whats better

I am purchasing a new TV and I am unsure as to what to get between LCD or LED. What are your opinions and reasons for choosing one of the two?

Technically LED is an LCD. But. The difference is that one labeled LED uses LED light source and LCD uses florescent.

My current preference for all things electric is Samsung. Samsung provides the guts for many of the highest end electronics companies(like Apple).

I have a 55" Samsung LED and I love it. I had a professional come out and do the color adjust on it, and its is amazing. Blu-ray movies are extremely good quality on it, as well as any hd programming.

We just bought a new house that will have alot of light coming off the bay, so we bought an LCD for the glare and brightess in the room. Otherwise, we would have gone LED....Also, I have a Plasma and LOVE IT! But it is in a dark den.....

Plasma....have a Samsung 46 LED I'm pretty happy with, but I recently got a 58" Panasonic in the loving room and it blows the LED outta the water.

I have Samsung everything. Led TV, computer monitor, surround sound, blu-ray, and even cell phone. The picture quality blows my parents LCD out of the water. I paid three time the money for mine but its worth it during football season.

I got the Samsung 3d, since it would upconvert from 2d. The picture on it is awesome. Beats my LG and Sony. I just wish I would've known about the 4d that just came out.

I'm pretty sure that the LED's are way cooler than LCD and way way cooler than Plasma.

LED's are supposed to give you a wider angle of view (on the sides) than both LCD and Plasma.

LED's are thinner, lighter, and more expensive. IMO LED's produce a better picture...

Despite all the hype....Nothing can beat the picture/contrast ration of Plasma. Plasma has always had a 600 hz refresh rate, which no LCD/LED can match yet.....and the contrast ration is out of this world.....but unfortunately the negatives are ...power hungry, high heat, possible screen burn in if you watch anything with stationary logs, ect. So LED is the way to go for most of us.
That said ....If you are going to go LED, try to get one that has a dimmable array ( actual LED panels behind the LCD screen) Most LED tvs only have LED "edge lit".....which puts off less heat than standard LCD, but isn't what was intended or assumed for the format....its just easier and cheaper.
Check out the VIZIO 55" 240 hz for an incredible picture at a great price.

PS: Samsung has been the leader for quite a while, and I hope they have straightened themselves out, but last year they had a lot of problems because they started putting cheap capacitors in the power supplies instead of spending the $2 to go with the good ones
