Default Lake House Suggestions/Advice Needed

If you were looking to buy a lake house within about an hour (+/-) of Penscola where would you look? I think the closer the better. Florida or Alabama is fine. I would like to be on a lake that had some fishing opportunities and also be able to pull the kids on the tubes, ski, etc. I grew up in Panama City and there are a TON of lakes in the Sandhills, only about 30-45 minutes from town. That's kind of what I am looking for. Growing up we had a place on White Western Lake and had a bunch of good times. Looking to give my kids the same kind of memories.

Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, etc ... would be most appreciated.

Panama City is nice... My father in law owns 5 acres on Deer Point Lake. That water is beautiful!

Gantt Lake just north of Andalusia AL is supposed to be real nice. My inlaws camp up there a lot in their RV and love it.

Yep, Deer Point is nice and there are a ton of smaller lakes/ponds within about 20 - 30 minutes from there as well. Got plenty of opportunity for places like that around PC but looking for something closer this way.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll look into it. About how far of a drive is that from say Scenic Hwy and 1-10?

Joe, Lake Jackson is great.....I use to put my sled in there all the time. They have a new gated community that doesn't have alot of houses in it over there....Don't know the kinda change you are wanting to fork out though..... It's on the FL/AL line Hwy 85 North!!!!

Gantt lake is very nice and worth the extra 30 minute drive. My mom, aunt and grandma have houses up there. Its nice because you can access the river from the lake and excellent fishing all over. Nice "community" atmosphere, you can just jump on your golf cart and ride anywhere
