We used to sit at the motor pool and watch you 13 Boos blow the shit out of the hills around Ft Sill. I was envious that ya'll got to play with your weapons and we only got to polish ours (Pershing P-1A).

The SP 8" was awesome too, the M-119? We did our share of field time but you guys lived out there, especially the towed 105 crews. I remember the Friday afternoon fires where the 8" guys would burn all the powder bags they didn't use before they came in from the field, made quite a spectacular bonfire.

Sat through some firepower demos where all the arty guys were popping off round after round, would NEVER want to see it from the other end.

Rick

The video brings back great memories of my time in the Army and Field Artillery. My last duty was commanding a battery of M109A3's in the mid 80's. Our battalion at Fort Benning had two weapon systems (105's and 155's) and shot more rounds than any other battalion in the Army due to standard mission plus Infantry School support. Our 13B's were pulling lanyards and sending rounds down range every week.

We were in the transition from manual/analog gunnery to digital fire direction. Do today's artillery units still know how to set up firing charts and use GFT's in the Fire Direction Center? Where is the video of rounds impacting on target?
