Default JUST CURIOUS

How many folks knew that JOHN DENVER wrote "Leaving on a jet plane" the song from Armageddon?

I thought it was from some hippie from the 60's, OK yea he is a hippie and from the 60's but thought it was older then that. Actually I thought it was Peter, Paul and Mary but guess not.

Scene from the movie.

I didn't know that either. Funny he would write a song about leaving on a plane as that is the way he went, although not on a "jet plane" but a plane never the less.

I knew it. John Denver was awesome. Big fan. He did a lot of remakes though so it's easy to see why someone might think he didn't write it.

Have to admit that yes I did know it. Even though I loved his music I hated the guy because everyone said I looked like him when I was younger. I will have to find an old pic and you will see what I mean.

"Leaving on a Jet Plane" was the first song Denver wrote that went megga big and made him a star. He had titled the song, "Oh Babe I Hate to Go", but he decided to change the title before the song's release. I think he was one of the best song writers of his time.

Damn it!

Now I have a John Denver shuffle going in my head. Jet f'n plane, Rocky Mountain High, Thank God I'm a Country Boy. Luckily, these are the only three JD songs I know.

And no, I don't need anymore.

I knew he wrote it and I must say he was one of the most friendly and down to earth people you could ever meet. I used to be a rentacop for Wackenhut when the first 6 space shuttles were launched and I got sent to the VIP parking section, just a little over a mile and a half from the launch pad and park all the big shots. While doing so I met him Carol Burnett she also was awesome and Clint Eastwood and Robert Redford ( both of which were jerks ) and a few others.

The one that really bugs me (no pun intended) is the Cooks Pest Control jingle. Ya' know, "Lookie, lookie, lookie, here comes Cookie". Drives me freakin' nuts. Have to mute the TV when it comes on. Wonder if John Denver wrote it??? :banghead:banghead:banghead
