Default Junior Snakebit!

Even as cars piled up behind him on the restart, Dale Jr. ran out of gas with 1000 yards to go.

NASCAR really wanted him to cross that finish line in the lead. Instead they broke their own rule and cost him the victory. There should have been a caution on the restart.

jim, That didn't cost him the race... Failing to get gas cost him the race... And I would love to see him win as much as ANY fan.

Had they thrown the caution, he would have come in for gas or run out on the track. But he wouldn't have restarted in first either way.

He and his team made their bed and had to sleep in it.

Wirelessly posted

As a big junior fan they took a big gamble on not getting fuel when ragan and the other cars did he would of came out in the top 10 with plenty of fuel look at harvick and Regan both restarted 10 and 11 finished 1&2 after avoiding the wreck he will win his share of races skittles bit more work from him and his crew and he will be a dominate force in NASCAR again

I think this was the third and last allowed "green, white, checkered", so the field would have been frozen at the time of the caution. As long as Junior could have crossed the finish line he would have won.

No more restarts would have been allowed. (3 max).

Absolutely no question about that, JIm.
If it had been a lesser known / popular driver, I believe the caution flag would have come out.
Yes, there are politics in NASCAR. Junior Johnson was ( as a car owner) the golden boy with the France family for bringing R.J. Reynolds ( Winston Cup ) to them with their enormous pot of gold many years ago.
The good news for Earnhardt fans is, he ran well, and is close to winning one.

It was the first and only GWC flag. If a caution was thrown on the last restart (lap 400), there would have been another restart since they hadn't taken the white flag and the wreck was in T2. Race ended on lap 402. last caution was lap 397 for 48 blowing up. sux to be JR, sux worst to be Gordon who pitted right before JJ blew up and got caught a lap down....9th to 20th

Rock on
