Default Ipe Wood for BGE Table

I'm getting ready to purchase an Big Green Egg and I want to build the table. I've heard good things about this wood, but unable to find where to buy it. The only way I've seen to buy is buy the truck load, I don't need quite that much. Does anyone know of a store that carries it?

You could also give these guys a call. They have a little of everything and will sell you anything from a single board to a boxcar load if you dont mind going to their wood yard in Evergreen, AL.

Roger that on getting it from Sky, he let me know that BGE was raising their prices. I'm getting the X-Large one and I wanted to see if that was a size that he normally stocked, so I hope to pick up one pre-price increase.

By the way Jason, nice table!

Try Builders Supply on Old Palafox. You might want to try a wood called Cumaru. They also have it. Less costly and has the same charecteristics. Be careful when working with these woods as they are naturally toxic. Breathing the dust or prolonged exposure to the skin can cause some serious health problems.

Hewe's,

Thanks for the head's up on the toxicity of the wood, I knew it was a extremely hard wood, I didn't know it was toxic. Cumaru is a nice looking wood though, it would be nice to save a little money, leaves more $$ for accessories.

Ask for George Ballard at Building supply. He will give you the low down. I want to say the price is about half that of Ipe.
