That one doesn't use a float valve...It has an electric valve that opens during Harvest to replenish and purge sump...... If it's running out of water and not finnishing the ice slab, the water filter could be clogged up or the inlet screen on water valve may have trash in it or the Sump drain plug could be leaking. Hard to tell from the Photos, but it looks like the plug is missing from the sump altogether???

In the photo, it appears to be adjusted for a thinnest Ice cube possible. I like the Normal / Mid thickness setting... If the evaporator is starting to get heavy mineral build up. the thin ice sheet wont slide off onto the cutting grid as quickly due to less weight and the ice sheet starts to melt away while waiting to slide off. The evaporator appearance should look like shiny stainless steel w/o and mineral buildup that usually looks rust colored
If you suspect low refrigerant, you could remove the cutting grid by removing two thumb screws and unplugging it to get it out of the way and drain the sump and start the machine and watch the frost pattern on the evaporator... it should quickly develop a frost pattern that covers the entire surface of the evaporator and in about 10 mins or so, it will go into harvest if the charge is right.

There are to many things to check to list them all. You are at the mercy of bringing it to someone that is familiar with them most likely. I have never heard any bad press about Gulf Ice Systems...Good luck...

I have the same one in black along with a KitchenAid 15" stainless with the electronic board. Check the thermistor under the freeze plate, This guy knows his stuff, and helped out a lot! http://www.truetex.com/icemachine.htm

It's been off for a few days. Turned it on earlier today and it's not cooling the bin down to keep ice, much less to make ice. Guess it's a freon problem?
