Default I need a new dishwasher.

I have never shopped for dishwashers. I don't know what brand would be a good one. Have ya'll bought one lately? Mine got damaged recently, something to do with a wasp, stool, and Tobbe trying to kill it. I would love to have the video of that!! Always close the door before you go on a wasp hunt!!

I have always bought Kenmore appliances from Sears and have not had any trouble. However, do your research on dishwashers as far as noise is concerned. About 10 years ago, our dishwasher in our condo went out. So I had in mind one of those $200 Kenmore dishwashers. Hell I thought, a dishwasher is a dishwasher, why would I pay any more for it. Well, my wife talked me into buying the $438 model. This was the right choice. It ran quiet. When we moved her 7 yrs ago, we bought a new Mitchell home that came with the $200 Kenmore dishwasher. That SOB is sooooo loud, you can't hear the TV. Gotta crank up the sound. Go for quiet and spend the extra money.

BTW Scott, don't throw the old one in the dumpster!!!! They don't like that at the landfill.

They are all good depending on the model you get and the bells and whistles. In my recent research I found Kenmore Elite to be the best. Some online advice was actually pretty good. They recommended the following.

look for small spray holes(high pressure for cleaning)
stay away from metal racks.(they will rust)
if you don't use the bells and whistles then don't buy a machine that has them. Models with no options will often clean as well as models with tons of options. If you never use the options they obviously don't do much good.

I found one at sears with a good macerator and large drain holes. I read once that you should scrape the plates and put them in the dishwasher and let it do the work and that pre-washing is a waste. There was recently a massive recall on dishwashers by a few manufacturers so make sure to ask.

Stay away from LG ! My wife and I bought an LG model LDF7811 dishwasher about 4 years ago, and we have already had major problems with it. When it was only 2 years old it stopped working completely and the entire pump and motor assembly had to be replaced, thank goodness we bought the extended service plan from BestBuy! And now it will sometimes stop working in the middle of a cycle and we have to turn it off and back on again to get it to start working again!

The dishwashers I've picked up on Navarre Pier always made a loud noise when you could get them to wash the dishes. You might want to keep that in mind.

Bosch SHE55M1[2]UC according to Consumer Reports is the best dishwasher and is priced at $850.
Kenmore 1374[2] is the Consumer Reports best buy and is priced at $650.
The second best rated is also a Bosch, but is priced at $1550. I didn't even know you could buy a $1500 dishwasher.

There are several inbetween these two, but this is the best, and the best value. Hope this helps.

Default Dishwasher

Scott I just bought one last week. I liked the consumer report best buy but wanted a stainless tub. The guy at Sears sold me on the Kenmore Elite that was last years model. Same dishwasher just with a stainless tub and $ 100.00 bucks less. So far do good.
