Arrow I had no idea, but this is awesome!

Maybe all you guys know this already but if not, i'm sure you'll take advantage if you have cell phone service w/unlimited data plan. I know for sure the Android software works b/c that's what i have. You can get internet on your laptop/ipad anywhere your phone has service (even if it's not picking up a wifi signal).

Here's the deal:

1.Get the app EasyTether.
2.you must have a usb adaptor for your phone to plug into your laptop or ipad etc
3.the app automatically gives you the option to select "tether" when you plug it into your laptop/ipad/etc.
4.give it a second to connect and then start surfing the web...the speed you get is the same speed you'd get on your phone(i.e. 3G or 4G).

You'll be hooked, i promise

Generally these apps will work till the next software update is sent out.

AT&T will simply watch your bandwith (?) usage and send you a text that says "STOP or we'll charge you for it"

But if you use it sparingly you can get by.

I've been "jailbreaking" my iphone for a couple years and have used different "tethering" software. DO NOT update your phone's software till the newest "jailbreak for tethering" comes out for the newest software.

I only use it sparingly and have not been warned of "STOP or be charged" yet.

Some apps are Bluetooth, some not so much.

I'm on PDA net right now with Verizon. It works great for the most part. Every now and then it will get quirky but I can deal with it since I cut $45 out of my monthly bills for dsl. I've gone through a couple of software upgrades with no problems so far. I had hotspot for a trial period and it worked great also. It was wifi and didn't require a tether. I think it's $30 per month and you can run up to 5 computers off of it. It was a little faster than the pda net. Word of advice with any of them, unistall and virus protection apps you have using any of them. For some reason the tethering software does not like to run with the virus protection also. Just remember that if you have any issues.

All of the phones on my family account with Sprint broadcast internet for up to eight people or devices with no app or tether cable, you just turn it on on the phone and others log in the same way you would any other wifi hot spot. It's pretty cool on road trips , I can be online with my laptop anywhere there is cell signal.
