Pretty sure it has to go through the state. Check out fwc.com or OutdoorAlabama.com for dates.

Get ready for a complete "required" waste of time. I wish they would let me teach it. It was terrible. Good people, but they obviously knew nothing about teaching or communicating.

I took the class 15+ years ago, i think at pjc. Then after the class sessions they took us to the range in pace to shoot. I think it was a 22 lr, 12ga, and i think a black powder rifle.

Anyways, like said above check the fwc website or call them.

http://www.myfwc.com/SAFETY/Safety_h..._right_you.htm

Persons born on or after June 1, 1975 may not be issued a license to hunt in Florida with the use of a firearm, gun (including a muzzleloading gun), bow or crossbow without first having successfully completed a hunter safety course. Anyone who meets the above description must present a valid hunter safety certification card prior to being issued a hunting license (excluding lifetime licenses).

Anyone 16 years or older and born after May 31, 1975 may hunt under the supervision of a licensed hunter, 21 or older, without having to complete the state's hunter safety certification.

Yeah it's not 1985, it's '75 and up is when you have to have it. Defuniak springs has a class where you can take it. Just go by the courthouse and ask them they should be able to give you some information about it.
