Default How Long will You Wait to be Seated?

Tonya and I went to eat at a specific place last night. When we arrived we were notified of the more than 1 hour wait to be seated. We looked at each other and both said "Thank You" at the same time, and left.

We talked about it in the car on the way to eat at another favorite, and we both agree identically on the topic of how long we would wait to be seated as a party of 2. We would be more tollerant in a larger party and rightfully so, but neither of us will wait more than 20 minutes to be seated at any restaurant. We both feel this way for several reasons, but the foremost reason is Food Preparation and Quality. Both Tonya and I prepare (Cook) Great Meals, We both Feel Really Great Food is not Prepared in a Hurry.

No hard feelings of course, but we will return when the restaurant will have more time available.

How long will you Wait to be Seated?

Friday nights are popular dine out nights so I give a little more leeway if the place looks busy. However, I have also walked away many times thinking that it wasn't worth my time. Twenty to thirty minutes is long enough to wait.

It might depend on the food I want, hurry I am in, drive time to the next place I want to go, but 30 min is fair...Sometimes it takes longer to drive to another place, park and get in line...in my old age I am more tolerant. In this economy I am happy just to see people out and enjoying themselves!

Default wait

There isn't any place around here that is worth a 40 min. wait for me. 15 min. is my normal wait, longer than that I go elsewhere, but than again I essentially eat just to stay alive.

I look around.

If people are eating and happy, I'll stick around 45 minutes.

If there are few tables with food, and people look unhappy, I won't even stick 15 minutes.

If it's a chain, 15 to 20. tops.
Tried going to Caraba's a few weeks ago. Love the food there, but I was not about to wait 45 minutes to be seated. We left and went up to a favorite non-chain and were seated in about 5 minutes.

I try and avoid the crouds at 7ish on Friday/Saturday nights, but am willing to wait 30-45 minutes. What gets me is when you are told 20 minutes(after calling for a reservation) and still waiting 50!!! If Global Grille was not so darn good, I probably would not go back... but it keeps calling.
