Default Hooray for [email protected]!!

Had one of my pistols stolen out of my truck around the end of February. Detective calls me today and tells me the idiot pawned it in downtown B'ham and he's picking it up. Crossing my fingers that they trace it back to the guy that stole it!!

So you didn't have to go to Bham and buy it from the Pawn shop.? Must be nice, wish that was the case in FL.

They must have run the serial number through a database. Like Turtle I am surprised that you don't have to buy it back from the pawn shop. I had one stolen and have never heard anything back. You give me hope.

Nice loophole.
So the pawn shops do not have to worry about buying or having stolen property in their inventory.
Nor make any effort to determine if the pawnee actually owns what they are bringing in.

The detective said he would pick it up if the serial #'s are a match, so I'm guessing that means I don't have to buy it back. Sounds like otherwise pawn shops have zero liability for buying stolen items. Seems like a thiefs haven.
