Default Hit and Run Help needed

Had some young punk run into the back of my truck Friday in front of Sacred Heart. If anyone saw anything get in touch with me. Or if you know of some kid that has a gold colored Chevrolet (possibly Malibu) with significant damage to passenger side front quarter panel damage Alabama plates starting with 500 and AM2 or AV2 in the second part. He hit me in the rear and took off. Mad mainly because truck only had 400 more miles to hit 250,000 with no major damage.

What....no high speed chase?

Check around area and see if there are any security cameras covering your spot....the Mall, Sacred Heart Hospital, Red Lobster, etc. and any traffic light camera coverage.

Did you file a police report?

Partial plate and vehicle description should get him.

Yeah files a report with PPD and called AL Hwy patrol. They won't tell me anything but if PPD will call the can run the plates thru ALESA Alabama Law Enforcement System and can hopefully find the punk. It's just the principal of it. About 2K in damages on a 2002 truck would probably total the old truck. But with nothing wrong with it I'll keep driving it.

Get a POC at the PPD and stay on top of it. The PPD should make an effort to apprehend a hit-and-run.

If you have comprehensive coverage and the damages exceed your deductible you can file with your insurance company. They will try to track the individual down and recover their costs...depending on amount.

Not sure if $2,500 is worth going thru the hassle of hiring a PI...unless it gives you the personal satisfaction of getting the SOB.

Good luck.

Ha, good luck. I had tag number, vehicle and driver description by 2 witnesses and it got me ZERO. All calls to the FHP went to voice mail which were NEVER returned. They will just ignore you until you go away. I'm out $750 and the nose piece still isn't back like it should be.
